Newcastle CEO Issues Stern Warning To Prospective Suitors Over Transfer Interest In £150M-Rated Ace

Written By Albert Echatah

Swedish striker Alexander Isak still has a lot of years left on his contract, Newcastle United CEO Darren Eales has issued stern warning to prospective suitors. He also stated that negotiations for an extension are scheduled for the end of the current campaign.

More Details

Isak has had a fantastic season with the Magpies, scoring 19 goals in the Premier League and leading his team to victory over Liverpool in the EFL Cup final.

The Reds are among the teams rumoured to be interested in the striker, but Arsenal, who have been connected to a number of forwards throughout Europe, might pose a serious threat.

But according to the report, Newcastle CEO Eales has stated that the team is not under any obligation to sell Isak, saying: “The reality is that all of our players are under long-term deals. They’re committed to the club. So, from that perspective, we’re not looking to move any player on.

“We’ve got an ownership that is ambitious [and] wants the best for the club. So from that perspective, it’d be crazy for us to consider it.”

Isak’s contract with Newcastle United expires in 2028, and the purchasing club would have to submit an outrageous bid ward off competition for the 25-year-old given rumours that the Toon could seek a transfer fee of more than £150 million.

It wouldn’t be shocking if Arsenal signed a forward to their roster in the summer after losing Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus to long-term injuries this season, as well as Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli to hamstring strains.

The Gunners failed to break the impasse against Nottingham Forest on February 26 and now have just 51 goals in the Premier League, which is the fifth-best total in the top division. In 2022–2023 and 2023–2024, Mikel Arteta came very close to winning the Premier League, and supporters think that a striker would help the Spaniard ultimately pull the Londoners over the finish line.

But given that Arsenal has only produced the eighth-highest xG in the Premier League (42.2), it could be preferable for the Gunners if they could figure out how to infuse the team with more inventiveness.
