In admiration of Girona’s blistering form in La Liga which is currently being spearheaded by Michel Sanchez, leading the Catalans to the top of the Spanish league ahead of Real Madrid, Newcastle chiefs are reportedly looking very seriously into replacing Eddie Howe with Michel as the English manager is under close scrutiny following four losses of its previous five Premier League games.
More Details
According to rumors in Spain, Girona manager Michel Sanchez has surfaced as Eddie Howe’s possible successor and it is all down to the 48-year-old good works with the club after guiding Girona to promotion to LaLiga. The previous season, he guided the Catalans to 10th place.
Girona who are owned by the same holding company as Manchester City have taken the football world by surprise this season by drawing even with Real Madrid at the top of the Spanish league.
The club have also defeated giants in Barcelona, Atletico Madrid to claim their first ever win against both clubs.
A number of the top teams in Europe have taken notice of Michel as a result of Girona’s achievements. Girona’s connections to City may make Michel a suitable candidate for Pep Guardiola and Barcelona is apparently eyeing the former Rayo Vallecano manager as a replacement for Xavi.
As per Marca, the owners of Newcastle are ‘looking very seriously’ at giving Michel full control. The Spaniard is regarded as a formidable contender to succeed Howe in the event that the former manager of Bournemouth is relieved of his responsibilities.

Real Madrid has chosen to handle his situation carefully due to his fitness concerns, and Carlo Ancelotti is willing to keep him out of action until the beginning of 2024.
