Reports suggest that Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo has reportedly made it clear he desires a move to Manchester United, and discussions between the two clubs regarding a possible transfer are expected to begin.

This development comes after a dismal 2024-25 Premier League campaign for United, where they finished in a historically low 15th place with a mere 42 points.

Following a string of disappointing results, culminating in a Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in May, manager Ruben Amorim is facing significant pressure. To alleviate this scrutiny, he urgently needs his team to perform well at the start of the next season.

A positive development for Amorim is the acquisition of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matheus Cunha. However, for the club to regain their footing, Cunha’s arrival will likely need to be supplemented by several other new players.

According to The Athletic, Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo could be another addition to the squad at Old Trafford. Despite reported interest from Newcastle United, the publication suggests that Mbeumo prefers a move to Manchester United, potentially meaning Newcastle will miss out on signing him.

Although Manchester United fans will be encouraged by reports that Mbeumo favors a move to the club, his potential arrival could mean Bruno Fernandes departs.

Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League are reportedly very interested in the 30-year-old Fernandes and are rumoured to be prepared to offer around £100 million to secure his signing.

Losing Fernandes could significantly harm Manchester United, considering he was their top player in the 2024-25 season with 19 goals and 18 assists.

Alternatively, Brentford’s Mbeumo was a high-performing Premier League player last season, scoring 20 goals and providing seven assists. Only Haaland (22), Isak (23), and Salah (29) scored more league goals than him.
