More Details

Branthwaite has been the Toffees’ bright spot during a season where they’ve had to concentrate just as much on off-field issues as on on-field action.

The 21-year-old has made 25 starts in the Premier League and scored two goals since returning to Goodison Park after making an impression while on loan at PSV Eindhoven.

Everton are now in 16th place in the rankings as a result of point deductions, but they still have the fourth-best defence in the Premier League, tied with Manchester United. Although Branthwaite has been instrumental in that, his efforts have only brought him recognition from other quarters and his first England call-up.

Even though Branthwaite just signed a new contract in October, Everton might need to sell one of their most valuable assets in the summer to meet the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability requirements—especially after two previous infractions.

Although Everton manager Sean Dyche has made it clear in public that he hopes to keep the player for a long time, prominent teams are rumoured to be preparing to submit an official bid.

Man United are prepared to put “all in” to try to beat out prospective rivals Man City in the race for Branthwaite, according to FootballTransfers. Nevertheless, there is a rumour that Newcastle is now kicking around the notion of making their own offer for the player.

Meanwhile…

Manchester United have announced that Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s official 27.7% takeover of the team in exchange for a £1.3 billion agreement has now been completed.

Ratcliffe said: ‘To become co-owner of Manchester United is a great honour and comes with great responsibility.

‘This marks the completion of the transaction, but just the beginning of our journey to take Manchester United back to the top of English, European and world football, with world-class facilities for our fans. Work to achieve those objectives will accelerate from today.’
