More Details
In a meeting with Italian officials last week, the 23-year-old, who was signed for £55 million by Newcastle from AC Milan in July, acknowledged to having wagered on multiple football matches, including Milan games.
On Thursday, FIGC President Gabriele Gravina announced that Sandro Tonali will serve a ten-month penalty and spend an additional eight months in a rehabilitation program.
Now, Tonali will miss the rest of Newcastle’s campaign in addition to, should Italy qualify, the European Championship in the summer of next year. In August 2024, he will be cleared to resume playing football.
‘The FIGC Prosecutor and Tonali have reached an agreement which I have already approved,’ Gravina said.
‘The agreement consists of a 10-month ban plus eight months of rehab activities and at least 16 public appearances.’

Erik ten Hag is anxious to prevent Jadon Sancho from making a “empty gesture,” therefore Manchester United is apparently willing to accept a “significant loss” on him.
Sancho has a disruptive impact on the rest of United’s team, according to manager Ten Hag, who is determined to get rid of the winger.
This season, Sancho and Ten Hag had a nasty falling out, with the Dutchman publicly criticizing his player in the media for his lack of effort in practice. After spending £73 million on him in 2021, United is now willing to suffer a “significant loss” on the player in the January transfer window.
