CF Montréal have sold 21-year-old Canadian midfielder Nathan Saliba to RSC Anderlecht, a top Belgian club known for its success in the Belgian Pro League and regular appearances in the UEFA Champions League.

More Details

The transfer fee for Saliba is reportedly up to $3 million, plus additional payments based on future achievements.

Interestingly, Anderlecht’s sporting director is Olivier Renard, who previously held the same position at CF Montréal until May of last year.

“We are very proud of Nathan’s progression over the last few years,” said CF Montréal managing director, recruitment and sporting methodology Luca Saputo.

“Despite his young age, he has established himself as a starter and leader on the team, which has also allowed him to earn a spot with the national team.

“He began his career with us at the academy and is now fulfilling his dream of playing in Europe. On behalf of the club, I would like to thank Nathan for his contribution over the years.”

After joining CF Montréal in 2020, Saliba made 78 appearances across all competitions, contributing two goals and one assist.

On the international stage, he has scored twice in five games for Canada, earning a spot on their 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup squad and being considered for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Saliba’s move to Europe continues a trend for Montréal midfielders, as he follows Mathieu Choinière, who joined Swiss side Grasshopper Club Zurich last summer, and Ismaël Koné, who went to England’s Watford FC after the 2022 season.
