Nigeria Championships: Ruth Usoro Takes Triple Jump Title, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi Retains Title

Field event athletes, Ruth Usoro and Chukwuebuka Enekwechi kicked off the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) national championships at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin City on a high.

Ruth Usoro leapt to a huge SB of 14.10m to win the Triple Jump final.
This is an improvement on her last event at the NCAA Champs which was her last appearance in college, where she clocked 13.95m for a second place finish.

African record holder, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi threw 21.25s in the shot put event to get a landslide victory and win gold at the championship which served as the commonwealth and world championship trials.
He beat Olukorede Samuel who came second with 14.52m while Abujei Chinedu was third with 14.40m while clinching his third national title.

2021 National Sports Festival Silver medalist in the 10,000m, Ismael Sadjo won the first title of the Champions clocking 31:38.77s ahead of Emmanuel Ilyah (31:45.55s) and Emmanuel Gyang (31:55.95s).
Ashe Favour, Godson Brume, Akintola Alaba and Udodi Onwuzurike clocked a scorching 38.34s to win the 4x100m event.

Ifeanyi Onukwe took in the the Gold in 47.47m. Kenechukwu Ejeifor finished closely with 47.14m while Ekonobonny Cletus placed third with 45.35m.
The women’s 4x100m quartet of Rosemary Chukwuma, Grace Nwokocha, Tobi Amusan and Tima Godbless, also pulled up a brilliant race clocking a SB of 43.43s to win the Invitational Relay final.
