Nigeria, Morocco, Tanzania Complete 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Party

The three teams that will represent Africa at the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India were confirmed last weekend as Nigeria, Morocco, and Tanzania qualified for the tournament.

Nigeria qualified on Saturday after playing out a 0-0 draw with Ethiopia in Abuja to record a 1-0 aggregate scoreline in the Fourth Qualifying Round.

Ajakaye Opeyemi had scored the lone goal as Nigeria’s Flamingos earned a 0-1 victory in Ethiopia.

This will be Nigeria’s sixth appearance in the tournament only missing out on the last edition in 2018.

Morocco on the other hand canceled a 2-0 first-leg deficit to bag a 2-2 aggregate scoreline over Ghana which took the game into penalties.

Finally, Tanzania edged Cameroon 1-0 to qualify for the World Cup with a 5-1 aggregate win.

The outcomes of last weekend’s Qualifiers in Africa mean that Africa will have two debutants (Morocco and Tanzania) at India 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
