This victory, witnessed by 20,738 fans, allowed MLS to avenge their 2024 loss and improve their record against LIGA MX to three wins in four matchups (previously winning in 2021 and 2022).

The first goal of the game came in the 28th minute when Nashville SC’s Sam Surridge, a co-leader for the Golden Boot, headed in a cross from Denis Bouanga.

Six minutes into the second half, Philadelphia Union’s Tai Baribo, assisted by Diego Rossi (Columbus Crew), doubled the MLS lead with a sharp finish from inside the 18-yard box.

LIGA MX responded in the 64th minute with a record-breaking goal from 16-year-old Club Tijuana midfielder Gilberto Mora, who became the youngest player to score in MLS All-Star Game history.

However, Vancouver Whitecaps FC goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka thwarted LIGA MX’s comeback efforts with two vital saves, paving the way for his teammate Brian White to seal the MLS victory with ten minutes remaining.

The MLS All-Stars got their revenge against the LIGA MX All-Stars after losing to them last year.

This win builds excitement for the Leagues Cup 2025, which starts on July 29, and intensifies the rivalry between North America’s top two soccer leagues. Looking ahead, Charlotte FC will host the 2026 MLS All-Star Game.
