In a recent statement, Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe admitted that the prolonged transfer of Alexander Isak to Liverpool was a difficult and taxing experience for the entire squad.

The 25-year-old striker’s move to Liverpool was finalized on deadline day for a British record fee of £125 million, concluding a 55-day transfer saga.

Isak’s departure was preceded by public statements from the player, in which he claimed that his relationship with Newcastle had ended and that the club had broken its promises.

Following Isak’s move to Liverpool, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is trying to get his team to concentrate on the game again as they look for their first Premier League win of the season, according to the Liverpool Echo. “There is a huge frustration, as we know we are judged against everything we deliver,” he told the Chronicle.

“And that is why the players have handled it all really well, it would have been very easy for them to feel differently about the situation. They have taken ownership of their own performances, they have viewed it absolutely brilliantly.”

When reflecting on the chaotic Isak transfer saga, Howe admitted: “I don’t think every squad would have been able to blank it out and carry on and make the team grow from the experience.

“That is always the challenge we have to be better for what happened and not succumb to it, that is the challenge ahead now.”

Alexander Isak joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022 for £60 million. Last season, he scored 27 goals in 42 games. Newcastle have since sold him and strengthened their attack by signing Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa.
