Arsenal announced on Friday that they’ve confirmed a new contract with 18-year-old Ethan Nwaneri. This news comes a few weeks after initial reports that Nwaneri had agreed to the deal with Mikel Arteta’s team.
In an interview with arsenal.com, Nwaneri shared his thoughts on the new contract: “It means everything to me, I’m so happy to have got it done. This is where I feel at home, and where I’m going to develop the best. I’m ready.
“I’m very excited. I see this as my first real season, and part of a proper squad in the changing room. I’m so excited for what I can bring to the team and how I can help the team.”
It has been almost three years since Ethan Nwaneri made history as the Premier League’s youngest-ever player. He debuted for Arsenal at just 15 years and 181 days old in a September 2022 match against Brentford.

After two seasons with the youth team, Nwaneri had a breakout 2024-25 season, scoring nine goals and filling in effectively for the injured Bukayo Saka.
At just 17, Nwaneri joined a prestigious list alongside Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen as the only players to score three Premier League goals before turning 18. He also impressed in a central attacking role during Arsenal’s pre-season tour.
Looking ahead, the England Under-21 international is expected to compete with Martin Odegaard for a spot in the starting lineup and is open to playing in other positions, including up front or on the left wing.
