Written by Oluwaseun Oyediji
Bay FC have continued their ambitious inaugural signing period, setting a new record transfer fee with the announced signing of Zambia international Racheal Kundananji.
More Details
The new NWSL club signed the forward from Madrid CFF for a reported €735,000 plus a possible additional $75,000 in add-ons, per The Equalizer.
The transfer fee breaks a world record set just last month with the signing of Colombia forward Mayra Ramirez by Chelsea FC.
The 23-year-old signs with the Bay through 2027, with an option for 2028.
Bay FC has proven to be a major player in the international transfer market as they develop their first-ever roster in 2024.
The team has also signed Venezuela international Deyna Castellanos, Ghana international Princess Marfo, Nigeria international Asisat Oshoala, and Scotland international Jen Beattie.
Oshoala and Kundananji should create a sharp attack, as they scored 46 goals between them in Liga F last season.

Kundananji's signing also showcases a women's football transfer market that is evolving quickly, as the NWSL strives to compete with other top leagues.

To help them build rosters, expansion teams like Bay FC and the Utah Royals don't have to operate under the new league rule capping outward transfer fees at $500,000.
They can spend up to $1 million without suffering a cap charge, per the Equalizer.
