The NWSL scored big on Saturday when a league-record 967,900 viewers tuned in to CBS to watch the Orlando Pride lift the trophy in the second-ever championship match shown in primetime.

Peaking at 1.1 million viewers, the broadcast marked an 18% increase over last year and a 6% jump from the prior record of 915,000 in 2022.

The second-annual Skills Challenge also proved a success, drawing an average of 1,537,720 viewers on Sunday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Orlando Pride star Barbra Banda took home 2024 BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year honors on Tuesday, after stellar performances for both club and country from September 2023 to August 2024.

At 24, Banda became the highest-scoring African player in Olympic history this past summer, registering four goals despite Zambia’s group-stage elimination.

She finished the 2024 NWSL season with 13 regular-season goals, leading the Pride to their first-ever Shield and Championship wins.

“I’m just dedicating this award to every one of you guys who has been there for me,” a surprised Banda told her Pride teammates after hearing the news.
