United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) fans got an extra treat on Friday, as one of the team’s legends made her way back onto the pitch.

More Details

Crystal Dunn played her first game minutes of 2022, coming in during the second half of Portland’s 2-0 win over the Orlando Pride.

The star midfielder clocked in at the 86th minute, replacing USWNT teammate Sophia Smith.

She’d joined the USWNT during their most recent camp in September, but the national team deferred to Portland for her game-ready return.

Dunn trained with the Thorns late into her pregnancy, telling the Oregonian in March, “At seven months, I didn’t think I’d still be training.”

“Honestly, it was about patience and trusting the journey and being grateful for giving birth to a happy, healthy journey.”

The 30-year-old said her sights are now set on winning an NWSL Shield and making a postseason run with Portland.
