The result lifts Gotham into third place in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) standings, continuing their strong climb up the table.
Shaw, who joined Gotham earlier this summer in a landmark million-dollar transfer, struck in an emotional return against her former club. “This year has been really difficult,” she admitted post-match. “I’m so grateful for this team and the opportunities I’ve gotten this year… I’m extremely grateful for this moment.”

The victory marks Gotham’s fourth straight unbeaten match, a run that includes three wins, helping the club surge from eighth to third place in recent weeks.
Forward Esthér also continued her excellent form, reclaiming the lead in the NWSL Golden Boot race with her 13th goal of the season.
