Bay FC midfielder Deyna Castellanos is on the move, after the 2024 expansion side recently bought out the Venezuela international’s reported million-dollar multi-year contract.
As of Friday, the 25-year-old has officially signed with the Portland Thorns through 2026 with an option for 2027.
“[Portland] is just an amazing club. It has a lot of history, a lot of championships, and I just want to be part of that,” Castellanos told Just Women’s Sports (JWS) at this week’s NWSL Media Day, highlighting the team’s established culture.

“Bay did a very good job with it, even being an expansion team, but I’m looking for more traditional kind of things.”
In other NWSL news, Houston Dash owner Ted Segal has reportedly hired investment bank PJT Partners to assess the franchise for a potential sale.

Houston finished the 2024 season in last place, but has worked to bolster their roster with top recruits ahead of 2025’s kick-off.
According to Sportico, Segal’s move could result in new investors joining the ownership pool, a shift in control, or no changes at all.
