Spurs relieved Nuno of his duties just yesterday morning and immediately began talks with the Italian manager using sport director, Fabio Paratici who worked together with Conte at Juventus as the basic element in brokering the deal.
“We are delighted to announce the appointment of Antonio Conte as our Head Coach on a contract until the summer of 2023, with an option to extend.” A Spurs statement read.
On his own part, Conte said: “I am extremely happy to return to coaching, and to do so at a Premier League club that has the ambition to be a protagonist again.
“Tottenham Hotspur has state-of-the-art facilities and one of the best stadiums in the world. I can’t wait to start working to convey to the team and the fans the passion, mentality and determination that have always distinguished me, as a player and as a coach.”
Conte confirmed that Tottenham had approached him during the summer, but the “union did not happen because the end of my relationship with Inter was still too recent and emotionally too involved with the end of the season, so I felt that it wasn’t yet the right time to return to coaching.”
Conte’s last job was with Inter Milan where he steered them to Scudetto triumph before parting ways over disagreement on players transfers.
The 52-year-old Italian is a proven winner and has previously conquered England with Chelsea in 2017 but Daniel Levy will be in for a long tussle as Conte is known to be insatiable when it comes to demands and being the main man in decision making.
The dramatic Antonio Conte is thought to earn up to £15m annually in his new job and has demanded four new signings to beef up his team.
Meanwhile…
Neil Warnock will make history tonight when he leads his Middlesborough team out against Luton town tonight in a Skybet Championship game.
Warnock will be in charge of match 1,602 in his career, breaking the previous record of 1,601 which he equalled in the loss to Birmingham City last Saturday.

The feat may be coming as a remarkable and an unprecedented achievement in the history of the English game but Warnock never imagined he could come this far.
“I never set out to do anything like that,” he said. “I can’t see something like this being beaten. In another 16-17 games, it will be the most Football League games. Hopefully I can keep my job a bit longer.
“Simon Jordan got me out of retirement at Palace because I thought I was going to be finished after Sheffield United. He told me to have a couple of months and help him out and it’s things like that that have kept me in it. Rotherham United was special. They got me back in after I’d called it a day then.
“Those circumstances and having those 16 games at Rotherham really whetted my appetite for the Cardiff carry on. You can’t put your finger on just one thing that keeps you coming back.”
The soon to be 73-year-old has shown no signs of slowing down as he maintains making people laugh and keeping them happy is his ultimate goal.
“I have really enjoyed it and set out to give the clubs I am at something to cheer about and a bit of humour in the game,” he added. “There is not enough humour in the game. I like to make people laugh and smile and enjoy life.”
“Younger managers get a bit brainwashed with clipboards and qualifications and forget the little things in life like the humour. You can’t give them a course in humour. I have always enjoyed that part, and meeting the away fans, the banter and getting some stick. I couldn’t have done as many games without humour.”
