Official: Chelsea reach agreement with Leipzig for Timo Werner

Chelsea have officially announced that they have completed the signing of Leipzig striker, Timo Werner. He is expected to link up with the team in July, subject to passing a medical.

The 24-year old striker joins the London club on the back of a successful season with Leipzig where he scored 32 goals and providing 13 assists in 43 games across all competitions.

Speaking on the deal, Werner said “I am delighted to be signing for Chelsea, it is a very proud moment for me to be joining this great club. I, of course, want to thank RB Leipzig, the club and the fans, for four fantastic years. You will forever be in my heart. I look forward to next season with my new team-mates, my new manager and of course the Chelsea fans. Together we have a very successful future ahead of us.”

Chelsea director, Marina Granovskaia also expressed her delight about the completion of the deal, describing Werner as a player that has a ” rare mix of being young and exciting and yet established and proven”.
