OFFICIAL: Manchester United Complete Double Swoop For Matthijs de Ligt And Noussair Mazraoui

Manchester United have completed the double signing of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui ahead of their Premier league opener at home to Fulham on Friday night.

“Manchester United is pleased to confirm that Matthijs de Ligt has joined the club, subject to registration. The Netherlands international has signed a contract until June 2029, with the option to extend for a further year,” read a statement on the Manchester-based club’s official website

The Red Devils have finally snapped up Bayern Munich duo Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui. Both players featured consistently at Ajax under Erik Ten Hag’s tutelage.
Netherlands international De Ligt, 25, signs on a five-year deal with an option of a further year for a reported fee of £38.5m plus £4.2m in add-ons while Moroccan right-back Noussair Mazraoui is believed to have cost in the region of £17.1m also signs on a four-year deal.
The pair are the latest in a string of new players brought to Old traffoy since the minority acquisition of the club by Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS group.
Regarding the transfer, De Ligt said: ‘As soon as I heard that Manchester United wanted me, I felt an excitement about the opportunity for a new challenge at such an historic club.
‘In the conversations that followed, I was impressed by the vision that the football leadership set out, and the role they saw for me in it.
‘Erik ten Hag shaped the early stages of my career, so he knows how to get the best out of me and I cannot wait to work with him again. I know what it takes to succeed at the highest level, and I’m determined to continue that record at this special club.’
Mazraoui on the other hand said: ‘It’s an incredible feeling to be a Manchester United player, and I cannot wait to walk out at Old Trafford wearing the red shirt. I know that I’m joining the club at an exciting time; everyone I’ve spoken to has the same ambition for us to win trophies together and I can feel the determination to achieve that.’

Erik Ten Hag’s men finished eight position last season, however, they defeated Manchester City to win the FA cup trophy when it mattered most. Manchester United will be hoping to fight for the league this season after completing signing of Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee earlier in the transfer window.
Despite the double arrival, more transfers are likely to still occur at Manchester united with likes of Jadon Sancho, Victor Lindelöf strongly linked to summer exit while the future of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen is still up for debate.
