“The Board of Directors of Al-Ittihad Club Company, chaired by Anmar Alhailae announces the signing of a new coaching staff, led by the Argentinian Marcelo Gallardo, to coach the first football team with a contract extending for a year and a half.” The club wrote on their official website.

“The Board wishes the coach and his staff success and hopes that they, along with all team members, will contribute to achieving the aspirations of the Al-Ittihad fans, who are known for standing behind their club and supporting it throughout its journey.”

The SPL reigning champions dismissed former coach Nuno Espírito Santo over his failure to get the team competing against their title rivals.

Gallardo is an Argentine former midfielder who had spells in France, USA and Uruguay outside his native country.

He began his coaching career at National in 2011 after retirement before returning to his boyhood club River Plate the following year, it was at the Argentine club he spent all of his coaching years until 2022 when he left the club.

The 47 year old will be faced with reviving the Tiger’s season as they continue their quest to defend the title.


Al Nassr forward Sadi Mane was at his personal best for Senegal as they opened their World Cup qualifiers with a win.

The captain scored twice and provided an assist for the Teranga Lions as they dispatched South Sudan 4-0 in Dakar.

31 year old Mane has been one of Al Nassr’s top performers this season and did well to take the form to his nation’s assignment.

Senegal sit top of their qualifying group after just one game and will travel to Togo next week for their second qualifying game.
