Following months of speculations, Los Blancos have now confirmed the arrival of their former player on a three years deal with immediate effect as preparations for the Club World Cup (CWC) will now begin.
As a player, the Spanish midfielder secured six trophies with Real Madrid, establishing himself as a madridista legend. His coaching appointment follows a historic and trophy-laden spell at Bayer Leverkusen, where he notably guided the team to victory in the league, the German Cup, and the German Super Cup having joined the club back in 2022 where he reached the Europa League finals and also qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.

Xabi Alonso’s tenure at Bayer Leverkusen was nothing short of historic, highlighted by an astonishing 51-match unbeaten run that epitomized their unbelievable campaign. His remarkable success extended into his final season where he led the German club to their first Super Cup in August 2024.
Over three seasons, Alonso secured the league, cup, and German Super Cup with Bayer Leverkusen, cementing his reputation as one of the world’s greatest coaches before his return to Real Madrid.
Tomorrow, May 26, Alonso will be officially unveiled as Real Madrid’s new coach at an event held at Real Madrid City. Preceding this, Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez will host a protocol signing ceremony where Alonso will formalize his three-season deal with the club. Following his presentation, Alonso is scheduled to address the press at Real Madrid City.
