Barkley joined Chelsea from Everton in January 2018 for £15m but has failed to impress at Stamford Bridge since his arrival.

He spent the 2020/2021 season on loan at Aston Villa where he scored three goals in twenty four Premier League appearances.

He made 100 appearances in his four and a half years at Chelsea and scored 12 goals for the two time European champions.

The 28 year old won the Europa League and FIFA Club World Cup during his time in West London.

Chelsea and Barcelona are still far from an agreement for the transfer of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang to Stamford Bridge as per Fabrizio Romano.

The English club failed to close the deal last week after the player has already consented to the move.

A new round of talks is expected between both clubs in the next 24 hours to see the possibility of the deal happening.

Chelsea are unwilling to match Barcelona’s valuation of the Gabonese striker and are insisting on inserting Fernando Alonso as a leverage to lower the fee.

Barcelona however do not want to include any player in the deal as they are more open to cash transactions alone.
