“Taofeek Ismaheel (22) is the newest asset of SK Beveren. The Nigerian striker comes on loan from French side Lorient for one year.” Read the club statement on Twitter.
The 22 year old started his European adventure in 2019 when he signed for Norwegian first division club Skeid FC.
The fleet footed attacker joined FK Fredrikstad two years later and it was there he had his breakout season scoring 13 goals and contributing eight assists in 33 league games.
He was named the OBOS breakout star of the season at the end of the campaign which caused French Ligue 1 side FC Lorient to swoop for the young Nigerian.
He signed a three and a half years contract at the French outfit who immediately loaned him back to the Norwegian league with Valerenga Oslo.
He then returned to his parent club for the start of the new season after scoring just a single goal for Valerenga which came in a cup game.
He has now put pen to paper on a season long loan with SK Beveren which has no option for purchase.
The club chairman Antoine Gobin in his welcome statement said: “We were looking for an offensive player that can bring speed and unpredictability into our offense. When we spoke with FC Lorient we saw that Taofeek perfectly met that description, and the decision for him to come to us this season happened quickly. We’re excited to see him grow with us and bring to our attack the dynamism that can make a difference in our league.”
Taofeek will hope to help the Freethiel landlords gain promotion to the Belgian Jupiler League.

The Nigerian international was left out of his team’s trip to England where they faced Al-Hilal in a friendly.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo before the start of the game CEO Mohamed El Assy confirmed a sale was on the horizon.
“Umar Sadiq has not travelled to England to avoid any type of injury that could stop a transfer that is close at this time. He will be sold for a little less than €30m. We have 12-13 other players that have received offers, they are players who have a prestige in the market and you hope that they have a great future.”
The new club could however be Villarreal who in the past week have shown a strong will to sign the striker.
