The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have officially announced the appointment of Eric Chelle as the coach of the national side.
“NFF appoints Éric Chelle as Head Coach of the Super Eagles.” NFF Wrote on their official website.
The Nigeria football governing body added that the appointment takes immediate effect as Chelle is expected to lead the Super Eagles to AFCON and World Cup qualification.
“His appointment is with immediate effect, and he has the responsibility of guiding the Super Eagles to earn a ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals, with the next round of matches (Matchdays 5 & 6) taking place in March.”
The 47 year old was recommended by the NFF Technical and Development Sub-Committee in a meeting held on Thursday, January 2, in Abuja before a final endorsement was reached five days later.
The Ivory Coast born former Malian international was born to a French father and a Malian mother.

He was in charge of the Malian national team for two years before leaving in June, 2024.
His team got to the quarter finals of the 2023 AFCON in his only major tournament where they lost to eventual champions Côte d’Ivoire.
He becomes Nigeria’s national team coach following the severance with Jose Peseiro.
