Onana’s Stance On Manchester United Departure Revealed Amid Trabzonspor Links

Written By Albert Echatah

Andre Onana is reportedly considering a move from Manchester United to the Turkish club Trabzonspor on a loan with an option to buy.

More Details

Despite being open to the idea, he has not yet made a final decision and wants to review the contract.

This potential move follows a challenging period at Old Trafford for the goalkeeper, who has had a “rollercoaster” couple of seasons filled with high-profile mistakes.

He has recently fallen to third choice behind both Altay Bayindir and new arrival Senne Lammens, and Manchester United has been willing to let him go.

The Turkish transfer window is open until September 12, and Trabzonspor hopes to sign a deal for a player before their match against Fenerbahce on September 14.

Meanwhile, Andre Onana, who signed a long-term contract with Manchester United in the summer of 2023, is being defended by his manager, Ruben Amorim, after a poor performance.

Amorim stated that United’s goalkeepers are under intense scrutiny, but their struggles are part of a larger team issue, not just an individual one.

“But if you look at the first goal, we can defend it better. We suffered a quite similar goal against Fulham, because we don’t do the full rotation of the team when the ball is on the other side. All these small things have nothing to do with the goalkeeper.”

Newly acquired goalkeeper Lammens, who joined Manchester United from Royal Antwerp, has already made several promises about what he will do if he becomes the team’s starting goalie.
