An always electric fixture, Barcelona managed to scrape past 10-man Osasuna on Sunday.

More Details

This clash got off to a flying start as the reigning LaLiga champions played some aggressive football.

Frenkie de Jong hit the post, Robert Lewandowski scuffed an early effort, and İlkay Gündoğan did the same all in the opening moments.

Thanks to some diving efforts from Marc Andre Ter Stegen at the back, Barcelona could eventually take the lead when Jules Koundé’s header found the net on the stroke of half-time.

In the second half, Xavi brought on new signings João Félix, João Cancelo, and Inigo Martinez, who all had promising debuts.

Yet, with only one goal separating the sides, Osasuna never shied away from challenging the champions and it remained a cagey affair.

Chimy Avila eventually pulled things 1-1 as his stunning curling effort from outside the box stunned Ter Stegen.

However, the hosts couldn’t capitalise on their momentum as Alejandro Catena was sent off and Lewandowski was allowed to make up for his missed efforts from the penalty spot for 2-1.

The win means Barcelona are third, two points behind leaders Real Madrid while Osasuna are on 10th position.
