The German women’s football team released their roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics on the deadline day alongside Group C side, Nigeria.

With the women’s football event of the Olympics set for less than a month, a deadline of Wednesday, July 3, was set for the release of the final squad.

Two-time World champions, Germany invited two goalkeepers, six defenders, five midfielders, and five forwards to the Olympics.

Four players were listed for the alternative in case of last-moment injuries or unforeseen circumstances warranting replacements.

Former Chelsea FC goalie, Ann-Katrine Berger, Jule Brand, Klara Buhl, Sjoeke Nusken, Lena Oberdorf, Lea Schuller, and captain Alexandra Popp headline the roster.

The team will face Australia, the United States of America (USA), and Zambia at the group stage of the tournament with the top two teams and two best third-placed teams making it to the quarter-final.

The European record champions will start their campaign against Australia on July 25 before facing record World champions United States Women's National Team (USWNT) on July 28.

They will finalize their group campaign against Zambia on July 31.

Head Coach Randy Waldrum has picked captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defender Osinachi Ohale, forward Asisat Oshoala, and 14 other players in his final list of Nigeria’s Super Falcons for this year’s Women’s Olympic Football Tournament in France.

There are also defenders Oluwatosin Demehin and Michelle Alozie, midfielders Deborah Abiodun, Halimatu Ayinde, Christy Ucheibe, and Toni Payne, and forwards Esther Okoronkwo, Chinwendu Ihezuo and Uchenna Kanu.

Squad members who are currently on holidays in Nigeria will join home-based players and team officials aboard an Air France flight from Abuja to Sevilla, Spain on Thursday night, with the rest of the playing body and technical team also arriving in Sevilla on Friday for a two-week training camp.

The team is scheduled to depart Sevilla for France on Thursday, 18th July where they will face Brazil, Spain, and Japan in Group C.
