France’s outstanding defence shut down Canada in a manner that broke all kinds of records during the Women’s Olympic Basketball Tournament in Paris in 2024.

This total of just 2 points set a record for any quarter at any Games, men’s or women’s, as they held their opponents to just one basket in the second quarter.

France’s spectacular ball denial technique saw them often disturb Canada with their length and athleticism. In a dominant and pivotal 23-2 spell, they not only displayed their style on the court but also at the other end.

In their 2004 group stage clash with Greece, Australia’s men’s team scored just three points in the fourth quarter.
