In response to questions on his future and connections to the England manager’s position, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola stated that “anything can happen”.

More Details

After Gareth Southgate resigned as England’s manager after Euro 2024 in Germany, the country is currently looking for a permanent replacement.

While interim manager Lee Carsley has acknowledged that a “world-class” manager with trophy-winning experience should take the position, he has not formally ruled himself out of the competition.

Guardiola, who coached Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Man City to tremendous success, most definitely fits the bill. One of the greatest managers of all time, Guardiola has been linked to the England position in part because of his current Etihad Stadium deal.

Guardiola’s contract with the Premier League winners expires at the end of the current campaign, and he has not yet reached an agreement on a new one.

When his current contract expires in June, there have been rumours that Guardiola may decide to depart Manchester City in search of a new challenge.

The 53-year-old has now disclosed that he hasn’t decided what to do next, leaving open the prospect of taking over as manager of England.

Guardiola told Che Tempo Che Fa: “I haven’t finished my career at Manchester City yet, I still have to think about it.

“It’s not true that I’ll be the England coach. I haven’t decided anything yet, if I had decided my future at Manchester City I would say so, anything can happen in life.”
