The new head coach of European champions, FC Barcelona’s Pere Romeu, is pleased with his player’s reaction to training.

Romeu replaced Jonatan Giraldez who joined Washington Spirit after winning the league second Champions League for the Catalan side.

The team has played a series of games with victories over Hoffenheim (5-1), Montpellier (5-0), and AC Milan (2-0) before traveling to the United States of America for two more preseason matches.



Pere Romeu, on his first days as head coach, said: “I feel immense happiness – I’d be lying if I said anything different. I’m privileged to coach these players and this team. I’m very happy in my day-to-day because I’m passionate about my job.”

“We had a very good training session. I was pleasantly surprised by how well we trained after a long trip. Usually, after a demanding journey, training isn’t very intense, but today it was extremely intense.”

In the early hours of Wednesday, Barcelona will face the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) outfit Bay FC, with the chance to meet their former player, Asisat Oshoala.

“I am very pleased – each game we have done better this preseason and tomorrow we have a very demanding opponent.” He is concluded.

Barcelona will also play one more game in the USA before their league opener.
