The MLS NEXT All-Star Game on Monday night saw the East team narrowly beat the West 4-3, marking an exciting start to MLS All-Star week.

The winning goal for the East came in the 87th minute, scored by Philadelphia Union’s Jamir Johnson. This match was the first event of MLS All-Star week, with more festivities planned for Tuesday and Wednesday.
In the first half, the West scored first, thanks to a superb assist from St. Louis CITY SC attacker Lorenzo Cornelius, who threaded a pass to a teammate for a goal in a tight spot.
The East leveled the score in first-half stoppage time, with New England Revolution academy player Cristiano Oliveira finding the net. To start the second half, Orlando City academy midfielder Gustavo Carballo gave the East a 2-1 lead by unleashing a blistering shot from a distance.
The game intensified significantly after FC Dallas’s Steel Cook equalized for the West, bringing the score to 2-2. The East quickly regained the lead with a goal from Columbus Crew attacker Prince Forfor, making it 3-2.

However, the West swiftly countered, and Vancouver Whitecaps academy forward Tyler Brown skillfully rounded the goalkeeper to even the score once more. Shortly after, the East went on the offensive again and were awarded a penalty kick five minutes later.
The MLS All-Star week features two main events this Tuesday and Wednesday. On Tuesday, the Skills Challenge will take place, along with “Goalie Wars” which showcases goalkeepers from the MLS NEXT Pro league.
The week culminates on Wednesday night with the highly anticipated All-Star Game, where an MLS team will compete against a team of All-Stars from Mexico’s Liga MX.
