Lord Norman Foster, an architect, displayed concept photos and scaled models at Foster + Partners’ London headquarters on Tuesday.
According to club estimates, a new stadium would cost around £2 billion. United’s current stadium will be dismantled after the new one is built and inaugurated. But until they move into their new stadium, United would probably keep playing at Old Trafford.
According to Foster and Partners’ architects, the new stadium would have a new public plaza that is “twice the size of Trafalgar Square” and an umbrella design. Three masts referred to as “the trident” will be part of the design; according to the architects, they will be 200 meters high and visible from the Peak District.
The new stadium’s plans are ambitious, and Manchester United supporters have since voiced their opinions about the club’s proposal to construct the 100,000-seat venue and Norman Foster’s design.

First, a survey asking Manchester United supporters if they support the construction of the new stadium received a resounding response. Actually, 81 percent of the 2,600 votes cast support for the action, while 19 percent disagreed.
When asked what they thought of Foster’s design, 53% of the fans said it was “spectacular.” Twenty-three percent chose ‘very nice’ as an alternative, making it the most popular response.
However, 24% of respondents provided an unfavourable answer. Ten percent said they ‘don’t love it,’ and fourteen percent said it’s ‘terrible’. Some supporters are opposed to leaving Old Trafford and moving into the new stadium, even if the majority of respondents to the survey support the plan and Foster’s design.
