Romero and Van de Ven both made a comeback to the team for the European match, but Postecoglou decided to keep them on the bench for the entirety of the close loss. However, the Tottenham gaffer has now disclosed that Sunday’s Premier League match may mark their first appearances since December.
“Yeah, they’re a chance,” Postecoglou responded to reporters during Friday’s press conference when they enquired about the possibility of Van de Ven or Romero playing against Andoni Iraola’s team.
“Look, when I saw the pitch the night before, I pretty much made up my mind I wasn’t going to risk them last night. It wasn’t a great pitch. It wasn’t steady underfoot.
“It wasn’t the sort of game where I felt I needed to expose them. A couple of extra days’ training and recovery, and hopefully both are in line to feature.” After missing the previous three games due to an injury, Postecoglou also disclosed that Davies might be included in the matchday squad.

“He’s actually training at the moment,” Postecoglou added. “So we’ll see how he feels. He’s definitely progressed and he feels good. We’ll see how he goes [in the] next 24–48 hours. There’s a chance.”
Moving forward In Thursday’s Europa League loss, Dominic Solanke returned from a knee injury, making his first appearance since mid-January by substituting Son Heung-min in the 72nd minute.
Unfortunately for the Spurs striker, a collision forced him to be replaced by Dane Scarlett in stoppage time, cutting short his comeback. After the game, Postecoglou acknowledged that he had no idea how serious the problem was that had pushed Solanke off.
