It was a dominant display from former Serie A champions, Inter Milan as they cruised to their fifth consecutive win in all competitions this season with a 4-1 win over newly-promoted Cremonese at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium to go into the international break with a victory.

The win came courtesy of goals from Lautaro Martinez, Ange-Yoan Bonny, Federico Dimarco and Nicolo Barella and then a late consolation goal from Federico Bonazzoli for the visitors who got a shocking win over AC Milan in this same ground in their first match of the season.

With this result, Inter seems to have put that shaky start to the season behind them as French forward, Ange-Yoan Bonny made the most of the absence of his compatriot, Marcus Thuram to post a man of the match display in his first start for the club with three assists and a goal to his name.

As for Cristian Chivu, he praised his team’s attitude after a commanding win at San Siro, adding that he is “delighted” for Bonny after he picked up three assists and a goal on his first start for the coach in Nerazzurri colour’s. “For once, I’ll take the positives from what we did,” Chivu told DAZN.

“We were dominant, we enjoyed ourselves, and we had the right attitude. We stayed organised, pressed well, and scored again from our pressure. “The goal we conceded? It’s fine, no problem. I’ll take 85 minutes of real quality and intensity. I’m proud of this group, they’re working hard to reach our goals.”

The Romanian coach added: “We can always improve but we also have to be happy with what we’re doing.“We’ve found continuity, happiness, and passion in our football. It was great to see the team enjoying themselves and playing with freedom.” When asked how to build on such a strong performance, Chivu replied:

“Perfection doesn’t exist, and we’re not chasing it. We just want to have fun responsibly. We needed patience attacking their low block and to press in the right moments. Of course, I’ll still find something to say to the players: that’s my job.” On the match-winner, Chivu was full of praise:

“I’m delighted for him: for his goal and for how much he helped the team. Up front we’ve got two young players and two experienced ones raising the bar. The whole group is happy for our young guys.” The Frenchman joined Chivu in making the move from Parma to Inter in the summer.

.Tonight was the youngster’s first start under his former Parma mentor and he made a real case for more minutes moving forward and this presents Chivu with somewhat of a selection headache, with two talented young forwards in Francesco Pio Esposito and Bonny.

Whilst Thuram sits out with injury, it is not too much of a problem for now but, when everyone is fully fit, the Romanian may struggle to give everyone the minutes they need. As for Denzel Dumfries’ visible frustration late in the game, Chivu brushed it off with humour:

“It’s good that he’s angry: he should be. He can be mad at me, the world, whoever. He’s a great person and a key player for us and for his national team.“I’m happy with him, but like everyone else, he can still give more.” Asked if he would watch Juventus vs Milan later in the weekend, Chivu grinned:

“No thanks, I’ll watch the NFL.” He replied. As for Bonny, he had these to say: “It’s beautiful to win,” the 21-year-old told DAZN after the final whistle. “We’re giving continuity to our results, and I’m happy to have helped the team.” He essked to rate Barella’s display as makeshift playmaker, he smiled:

“Always a 10 as a regista.” The Italian played a slightly deeper role after Hakan Çalhanoğlu was rested; Davide Frattesi also made his first start under Chivu tonight in the Turk’s place.Bonny also reserved praise for his coach. “It’s important to have Chivu as a coach: he gives me confidence every day.”

“I know that if I work well, he’ll give me a chance. It was like that at Parma too, so I thank him for trusting me. We have to keep going like this.” He concluded. As for Barella, he was all smiles after the win and had kind words for Bonny after his display after the dram

“Today we rediscovered some mechanisms that we’d lost a bit,” Barella told DAZN after the match. “To play games like this, you need confidence and the right condition – and we’ve found it. We’re happy. We tried to be more vertical and we had fun, that’s the most important thing.”

When asked about his goal assisted by Bonny, Barella explained: “My instinct has always been to set up teammates rather than chase personal glory but in some moments, like on my goal, you have to shoot. I’m happy and I thank Bonny.” He further added.

“Since he arrived, he’s always given his best and fit perfectly into the group. We needed that energy and joy.” For his audacious scorpion flick in midfield? Barella laughed: “Those things are instinctive – when you’re enjoying yourself, everything comes naturally.” He further added.

As for Federico Dimarco, he praised his young Inter teammates, Bonny and Francesco Pio Esposito after the win. The defender also reflected on the team’s strong reaction following a difficult start to the season under Chivu.“Bonny and Pio are two strong players,” Dimarco told reporters post-match.

“For Thuram, I’m the one for first goals – just like today for Bonny, I also assisted Marcus for his first goal at San Siro.” The Italy international underlined the group’s progress, highlighting how Inter have bounced back from their early setbacks.“We’ve been working well since the start of the year,” he said.

“There were two slip-ups: Inter can’t lose two of the first three games. Today we were dominant and after that run of matches, Juventus included, we’ve started again in great fashion.” Dimarco also commented on his fitness after a demanding spell of games.

“Two full matches in a row? It’s been a long time since I managed that,” he joked.“I just answered a question that was asked – I got on really well with Inzaghi and his staff during those four years”. Speaking at his press conference, Dimarco reiterated his point on his fitness.

“I’ve been struggling a bit lately: even with my work, I couldn’t get out of the difficult moment. I think the coach and my teammates are helping me get through it, and the more high-level performances you put in, the easier it is to get out of it.” He concluded.
