English Premier League (EPL) teams are known for breaking the bank for players especially the ones that’ll bring quality and to their team both on and off the pitch. The spending power of the English teams is believed to be in the huge returns they fetch from TV rights.
A report published by the CIES Football Observatory found that top-flight clubs in England have spent considerably more than teams in Serie A (£2.9bn), La Liga (£2.8bn), Ligue 1 (£2.3bn), and the Bundesliga (£2bn) on their respective rosters.
Manchester City coughed out £100m this summer to acquire the services of Jack Grealish from Aston Villa, the highest fee paid by any English team for a player eclipsing the previous record when Manchester United paid £96m to Juventus in 2016 for the services of Paul Pogba.
Chelsea also paid a whopping £97.5m to Inter Milan this summer for Romelu Lukaku while Dortmund pocketed £73m for Jadon Sancho to join United in the same window. Arsenal also paid £50m for rising defender Ben White while United brought in veteran, Raphael Varane for £41m.

Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher has tipped Manchester United to have a shot at the title after bringing back Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus after twelve years of leaving the club.
The last time the Red Devils tasted premier league glory was eight years ago under Sir Alex Ferguson but Carragher believes this is their time to try to win again after the arrival of Ronaldo and other players.
“Forget Ronaldo’s age and name, we are talking about the guy who was the top goalscorer in Serie A last season, so that is who United are signing, so it should make a big difference to them,” he said on SkySports.
“And they’ve added other players in other areas as well, so it is about time United were fighting towards bringing that title back to Old Trafford.”
The Ole-led side has won two of their three opening games and takes on Newcastle at Old Trafford this weekend.
