PSG Director Reveals Why The Club Didn’t Move For Barcelona Forward

Usually, during the transfer window, players are linked with clubs, even if there’s no interest from the named club and eventually. And in other cases, the interest is there, but still, the move fails to materialize, due to one issue or the other.

In the case of Barcelona winger, Ousmane Dembele, during the summer transfer window, he was linked with various clubs, with the name of French giants, PSG the most consistent.

The fact that his contract was set to expire too and he would become a free agent didn’t help matters either, but eventually, he would go on to sign a contract with Barcelona.

But according to PSG sporting advisor, Luis Ocampos, the Parisians were indeed interested in the player, but decided against a move for him. “I like Dembélé a lot,” Campos said.

“His favorite position is on the left, and with that, we break our puzzle. Our attacking triangle is upside down. Mbappé is at the high point, and the other two are in support. We don’t play with wingers. It was perhaps a mistake of the past to take great players who play in the same position.” He further added.

At that time, Barcelona were asking the player to take a pay cut to help the club and the player was said to be keen on renewing with the Blaugrana, while his agent was the one pushing for a move elsewhere.

He was reported to have offered his client to PSG, Chelsea and even Bayern Munich, but no club was willing to take him, before he eventually signed a new contract, practically as a free agent, as his contract expired in June.
