PSG Officials Tried To Pressurize The Referee In The Match Against Real Madrid At Half-Time

After much anticipation leading up to the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 match between Real Madrid and PSG, the first leg is over and the French club won by a lone goal.

French striker, Kylian Mbappe, who currently plays for PSG but is rumored to be on his way to the Santiago Bernabeu to join Real Madrid from next season as the end of his contract with the French club draws closer and no renewal in sight, scored the only goal of the match.

Before the game, the player made it clear that he hasn’t decided on his future yet, giving PSG a slight hope of keeping the him despite the fact that all other indicators points to the fact that the player will eventually join Real Madrid.
While the two clubs are at the centre of a transfer tug of war over the future of Mbappe, the intrigue did spill over into the match, after a goalless draw in the first half with PSG looking like the better side.
According to Radio MARCA, both Nasser Al Khelaifi (club president) and Leonardo (sporting director) went down to pitch level at half time in order to speak to the referee as they felt he wasn’t giving their team the right calls.
“Al Khelaifi and Leonardo came down at half time to put pressure on Orsato after his refereeing in the first half,” journalist Miguel Angel Toribio told Radio MARCA. “People from UEFA were there to witness it.”
PSG did get a penalty early in the second half, a Lionel Messi penalty that was saved by Thibout Courtois before Mbappe’s brilliant goal in 94th minute gave the Parisians all three points and an advantage going into the second leg of the encounter.
The second leg will take place at the Santiago Bernabeu on the 9th of March and Brazilian midfielder, Casemiro and Ferland Mendy will be suspended after getting a yellow card each in yesterday’s match.
