PSG star, Lionel Messi has splashed out a whooping £175,000 on customized gold iPhones for Argentina’s World Cup wining team consisting of the players and also the staff members.

More Details

The Argentina captain has rewarded the efforts of the team which has a total of 35 members with the customized phone gift with each name of players and number inscribed on the iPhone.

Lionel Messi won the only elusive trophy in his career by wining the Qatar 2022 World Cup with Argentina as they defeated defending champions France in a penalty shoot-out.

The Ligue 1 star who will out of contract with PSG at the end of the season wanted to give his colleagues a personal memento to remember their success with and decided personalized 24-carat gold smartphones was the way to go.

The PSG star had the mobiles delivered to his Parisian department over the weekend and will set about handing them over to the lucky individuals who are set to receive a swanky new upgrade to their current handset.

CEO of iDesign Gold, Ben Lyons, explained how Messi approached him about designing a special gift after triumphing in the Middle East.

Argentina and Brighton star Alex Mac Allister has revealed he wants to see Lionel Messi play on until the 2026 World Cup.

Mac Allister and Messi were both key parts of Lionel Scaloni’s side as they emerged victorious in Qatar at the end of last year with the PSG star scoring seven goals and adding three assists in just seven games to lead his nation to glory.

Mac Allister emerged as an important player for Argentina in the tournament having originally been on the fringes of the team, with the 24-year-old also playing a major part in Angel di Maria’s iconic goal in the final.

Messi had repeatedly said it would be his last World Cup, allowing him a fairy tale ending to his international career.

However, the Brighton midfielder insisted he would love to see the 35-year-old represent his country in the 2026 edition in the US, Canada and Mexico – by which time he would be almost 39 and believes Messi would continue to star for Argentina.

“Lionel is not only the Goat but he’s one of iDesigns Gold’s most loyal customers and got in touch with us a couple of months after the World Cup final,” he told The Sun.

“He said he wanted a special gift for all the players and staff to celebrate the amazing win but didn’t want the usual gift of watches. So, I suggested gold iPhones inscribed with their names and he loved the idea.”

Each luxury piece boasts a similar design of the Argentina team badge with the updated three stars, the player’s name and national team shirt number and the words ‘World Cup champions 2022’.
