Spanish and FC Barcelona Femeni captain, Alexia Putellas has won the 2021/2022 UEFA Women’s Player of the year award ahead of England’s Beth Mead and Germany’s Lena Oberdorf.

The Spanish midfielder won the 2021/2022 UEFA Women’s Player of the year prize despite being ruled out of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 due to injury worries.
She had a illustrious 2021/2022 season with her club winning all available trophies apart from the UEFA Women’s Champions League where her team lost to Lyon in the final.
Putellas despite the final defeat emerged as the top goal scorer of the 2021/2022 UEFA Women’s Champions League.
She scored eleven (11) goals with two (2) assists from 11 UEFA Women’s Champions League games during the 2021/2022 season.

Her four (4) goals in four games were also instrumental in helping FC Barcelona Femeni clinch the Copa de la Reina title.
She scored 18 goals with 15 assists in the league as FC Barcelona Femeni retained the Spanish Primera Iberdrola title winning all league games.
The feat made her the first Spanish player and women’s football player to retain the award after winning the prize last season as no player was able to retain the UEFA Women’s player of the year award.
