Qatar WC Playoff: 60,000 Fans To Watch Egypt Versus Senegal In Cairo

The Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports has officially announced that the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifier between Egypt and Senegal in Cairo will be watched by 60,000 fans.

Arguably one of the biggest matches of the playoff series, both Egypt and Senegal played each other in this month’s final of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon with the latter emerging victorious 4-2 on penalties.
The crucial World Cup playoff match first leg will be played in Cairo on March 25th with the return leg billed for Senegal on the 29th of March.

The Covid-19 pandemic has hampered the heavy presence of fans in stadiums for football matches and with the lesser talks of it around the world, fans are gradually making their return to the stadiums but Africa football governing body is yet to open the stadiums to their fullest capacity and as such fans are allowed to match venues on the continent based on the number approved CAF.
A few days ago, the EFA stated that they will be requesting fans’ attendance in the first leg taking place in Cairo in order to motivate the national team.
Today, it was confirmed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports that the request was approved and 60,000 supporters will be allowed in Cairo International Stadium.

The FIFA World Cup playoff game between Ghana and Nigeria gets new dates.
The play off which was firstly scheduled for Thursday, March 24 and Sunday, March 27, has now been moved to Friday, March 25 and Tuesday, March 29, 2022.

The first leg is billed to take place at the Cape Coast Stadium whereas the second leg will be scheduled at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
The winner of the clash will represent the African region at the World football showpiece which is scheduled to take place from Summer period by November 21 to December 18, 2022 in Qatar.
