Ramsdale was Arsenal’s first choice goalkeeper for his first two seasons in North London before David Raya joined on loan from Brentford in the summer.

As soon as the Spaniard became Mikel Arteta’s first choice, Ramsdale was forced to play the most of the season on the bench. This season, the England international has only made 11 appearances in competitive games, with two of those appearances occurring in 2024.

According to a rumour that surfaced earlier on Friday, Ramsdale had already decided to sign with Newcastle before the 2024–25 season.

It appeared as though Newcastle was about to add Ramsdale to their present goalkeeping options, Nick Pope and Martin Dubravka, as Loris Karius was expected to depart St James’ Park.

The Arsenal goalie, though, has resorted to social media to appear to brush off the rumour that he and the Magpies have struck an understanding. The 26-year-old posted the following on X, formerly known as Twitter: “News to me [laughing emoji]”.

According to reports, Premier League clubs have approved the introduction of a development plan that will curb spending beginning with the 2025–2026 season.

The spending cap proposals were approved by 16 teams, and their goal is to keep the gap between the Premier League’s lower-half teams and its financial titans from growing.

Nevertheless, a report from BBC Sport claims that three teams vying for European football—Manchester United, Manchester City, and Aston Villa—are thought to have voted against the proposal.
