Understandably, conversations about National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) reform have taken center stage.

On Thursday, Megan Rapinoe didn’t mince words about what she thinks has to happen next to make the league safe for all.

Rapinoe has played in the NWSL since its inception in 2013.

“I don’t think Merritt Paulson is fit to be the owner in Portland. I don’t think Arnim is fit to be the owner in Chicago,” the forward said during a USWNT press conference.

“None of those people have shown they deserve to be around this beautiful game because they can’t even do the basic, basic responsibilities of their job.”

“Rory’s been an asshole for the entire time that I’ve known him,” Rapinoe said of Dames. “Paul [Riley]’s the same. I didn’t know Christy Holly personally, but everything I heard about him was horrible.”

Rapinoe also noted how the early years of the NWSL created an infrastructure that allowed abuse to thrive.

“The league was set up hastily in a way … done with absolutely zero guardrails.”

Griner’s wife, Cherelle, said she is preparing for the worst in an interview on “CBS Mornings” this week.
“To me, as much as everybody’s telling me a different definition of what BG is, it feels to me as if she’s a hostage,” Cherelle Griner said.

She said her wife is at her “absolute weakest moment in life right now.”
“The reality of the situation is that once that hearing is held and the order is finalized, she is now in the position where she could be moved to a labor camp. My brain can’t even fathom it.”
