Real Madrid And Brazilian Star Reach Renewal Consensus

Written by Oluwadamilola Olaleye

Vinicius Jr. renewal with Real Madrid is seemingly done albeit pending official confirmation after both parties reached a consensus on an improved extension, placing the Brazilian star one of the top high earning players in the club, a renewal that’s expected to be valid until 2030.

More Details

Real Madrid and Vinicius Jr. have finalised terms on a new contract, according to Diario AS, with the Brazilian forward set to commit his future to the club for the long term. The agreement, expected to be signed in the coming weeks, will see Vinicius remain at the Santiago Bernabéu under a new five-year deal.

Interestingly, the contract is technically just a three-year extension, as his current deal already runs until 2027. This shorter duration is a strategic choice by his agent, Frederico Pena, who prefers his clients to retain flexibility and the freedom to explore future opportunities. As a result, while Vinicius is staying put for now, interest from Saudi Arabia may not be off the table entirely, though any move will have to wait.

Vinicius Jr.’s new contract will see him earn a staggering €100 million net over its five-year duration, officially making him the highest-paid player at Real Madrid. This marks a significant shift in the club’s wage structure, as he overtakes Kylian Mbappé in base salary.

However, while Mbappé’s annual wages stand at €75 million, his overall earnings remain higher for now, thanks to the substantial signing bonus he received upon his move from Paris Saint-Germain last summer.

His new contract with Real Madrid includes a range of lucrative performance-based incentives. These bonuses are tied not only to team achievements, such as winning titles, but also to individual milestones, most notably, surpassing seasonal goal-scoring targets or securing major accolades like the Ballon d’Or or FIFA’s The Best award. For instance, winning The Best earned Vinicius an additional €2 million on top of his previous €15 million net salary.

A key detail of the new deal is that the updated terms take effect immediately upon signing, rather than from the expiry of his current contract in 2027. This means Vinicius will begin earning his new annual salary, approximately €20 million from this season onward, with the contract running through 2030.

Despite the significant jump in earnings, the contract remains progressive in structure. Over the next five years, from 2025 to 2030, the Brazilian forward is set to earn a total of around €100 million net, solidifying his status as one of the top earners in the team and in world football.
