Additionally, Los Blancos has appointed another club legend in Álvaro Arbeloa as the new first team coach having spent his entire coaching career in Real Madrid’s youth academy since 2020.
He coached the Under-14s A side during the 2020–2021 season, leading them to the league title, before taking charge of the Under-16s in 2021–2022. He then managed the Under-19s from 2022 to 2025. During his time with the Under-19s, he achieved remarkable success, winning the treble in the 2022–2023 season, comprising the League, Copa del Rey, and Champions Cup and securing another League title in the 2024–2025 campaign.
As a player, Álvaro Arbeloa was part of Real Madrid during one of the most successful periods in the club’s history. He represented the club between 2009 and 2016, making 238 official appearances. In that span, he won eight major trophies: two European Cups, one Club World Cup, one UEFA Super Cup, one LaLiga title, two Copa del Rey trophies, and one Spanish Super Cup.
Alonso’s brief spell didn’t go without controversy with reported clashes with some key first team players, particularly the public fall out with Brazilian forward, Vinicius Junior.
While the details of Arbeloa’s contract undisclosed, it is widely believed that his appointment is not on an interim basis with speculation suggesting he will remain in the role until the end of the season.
