The name of Manchester City striker, Raheem Sterling had been mentioned, but a new name has now emerged, in the form of Gabriel Jesus.
Following the arrival of Erling Haaland to the Etihad stadium, the Brazilian striker will see his chances of being a regular at the club greatly reduced, hence, he’s pushing for a move away from the club.
While the move to the Santiago Bernabeu seem like a match made in heaven as the player would be available for a fee of about €60 million and a salary of €5 million a year, figures that are easily attainable for the Los Blancos, there’s a snag to the whole deal.
According to reports from Carrusel Deportivo, Gabriel Jesus has now been offered to the champions of Europe. While Real Madrid like the idea of signing him, his non-EU passport complicates the operation and makes it close to impossible.
As per La Liga’s rules, a team is permitted to have a maximum of three players with a non-European passport in their squad. At the moment, Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo Goes and Eder Militao fill the three available vacancies.
There is also no room for any of the three Brazilian’s to claim a Spanish citizenship yet, since they have not played in La Liga for five seasons.
So, unless Real Madrid are able to sell off one of the three names mentioned (an unlikely scenario), they won’t be able to make a move for Gabriel Jesus.
Meanwhile…
Barcelona will not be making a move for Valencia midfielder, Carlos Soler as they consider his transfer fee way to high, even if they eventually end up selling Netherlands midfielder, Frankie De Jong.

The current economic situation of Valencia is not very different from Barcelona. While the distinction between the two is massive, Valencia, too, need to sanction a few sales in order to generate as much as €60 million before June 31.
This will give Atletico Madrid a clear path towards the player and the Los Rojiblancos are prepared to wait for the right moment before making their move as they believe that they can reduce the asking price for the player.
