Written By Onyeka Daniel
Real Madrid in the last few years have found themselves dependent much on Karim Benzema as the French striker was instrumental to their double success last season.

But he’s not getting any younger, hence the Los Blancos are looking for a player that they can sign that would have at least, the same impact.
In their last three matches, they’ve had to play without Benzema and they didn’t seem to miss his absence that much, but he’s still expected to go straight into the lineup once he’s fully fit.

As for a long term replacement, Real Madrid are looking at several options and the newest name is that of Liverpool striker, Roberto Firmino.
Firmino may not be known for scoring plenty of goals, but his selflessness, good link up play and tracking back to help his teammates could be an important asset to the Spanish side.
As luck will have it, his current contract with Liverpool expires in 2023 and he’s said to be looking for a new challenge, rather than renew. There’s a report that the two clubs may look to swap players, with Marco Asensio moving the other way for Firmino.
This deal would make sense for the two clubs as they get rid of unwanted players, while also bringing in reinforcement at literally no cost. Barcelona are said to be interested in signing the striker, but a move to the Santiago Bernabeu will mean that Firmino will link up with his Brazilian teammates, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes.
Meanwhile…
Liverpool, on the urging of their coach, Jorgenn Klopp may submit a bid for Brazilian midfielder, Joao Gomes in January as the German coach doesn’t want to be beaten to his signature, just like in the case of Aurelien Tchouameni.

The Brazilian side do not want to sell their prize asset and simply will not negotiate, unless his release clause of €60 million is triggered.
The interest from Real Madrid seems to have waned, but the Reds don’t want to be caught unawares and may be planning to pay the full clause in January to land the 23-years old.
