Real Madrid Declare Profit For 2021/22 Season As The Club Get Renewed Hope To Sign Mbappe

Written By Onyeka Daniel

Spanish La Liga side, Real Madrid didn’t do much in the just concluded transfer window, bringing in just two players, Antonio Rudiger on a free transfer from Chelsea and Aurelien Tchouameni from Monaco for €100 million.

More Details

Their initial target was French forward, Kylian Mbappe, who ended up signing a new contract with PSG and the Los Blancos didn’t bother bringing in an alternative for him, which seems to suggest that they could be eyeing a move for him in the future.

Mbappe was reported to have signed a three years deal, meaning, the Los Blancos will have to wait for at least two years, before making a move for the player, as it’s obvious that PSG don’t intend to sell the player at any price.

But according to the latest report from French newspaper, L’Equippe, the contract signed is actually a two years deal, with one more year optional, but with the provision that PSG could only extend it with the player’s consent.

That is to say, it would be Mbappé who would have the possibility of extending that optional year. “This last year is up to Kylian Mbappé,” a club source confirmed to L’Equipe.

This completely changes the situation, since Real Madrid could be back in the race to sign the striker in just about two years and not in three years as previously thought.

Starting next summer, PSG would find themselves in the same situation as in 2021, with a footballer who could go free in 2024. The player himself hasn’t closed the door on the possibility of joining the Spanish side, as he recently stated that the Los Blancos is like “a house” even if you haven’t been there before.

With Karim Benzema not getting any younger, it could be that the Los Blancos are targeting his compatriot as his replacement in the team for the coming years, hence the reason why they haven’t tried to sign a new striker for the team despite the fact that Benzema is approaching the twilight of his career.

In what can be described as nothing short of surprising, Real Madrid have declared a profit for the 2021/22 financial year despite the damaging impact of Covid-19, which is a true testament to the managerial skill of the club’s president, Florentino Perez.

According to an official club statement, Real Madrid’s net worth is now set at €546 million, as of June 2022, with €425 million available to the club. Operating income at Real Madrid, for the 2021/22 financial year reached €722 million, in a 10% increase from the previous 12 months (€69m).

Despite losing an estimated dip of around €400m due to the pandemic restrictions in place in Spain. Perez stated the club are in strong financial shape with an increase in net worth for a third successive season in Madrid. It should be recalled that the club sold Brazilian midfielder, Casemiro to Manchester United for about €60 million before the closing of the transfer market.
