In bid to overturn the red card decision of Munuera Montero, Real Madrid’s appeal to the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has been reportedly rebuffed with Jude Bellingham set to miss two games for Los Blancos which includes the game against Girona on Sunday at the Santiago Bernabéu and the one against Real Betis in Estadio Benito Villamarín.

Controversy erupted around referee Munuera over the weekend. He controversially sent off Jude Bellingham for using strong language, specifically telling him to “f*** off” during the game against Osasuna which ended 1-1 and further fueled the flames by denying Real Madrid several penalty appeals.
This led to public criticism from both Bellingham and Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti, and ignited a firestorm of negative press coverage, particularly from Madrid-based media outlets. It was then followed by a temporary suspension but he has been cleared to resume officiating after the clearance from an investigation into potential conflicts of interest stemming from his outside business activities.

Real Madrid believe that Munuera Montero’s report has not contextually correct as opposed to the an exchange between the two, rather than the ‘f*** off’ that cameras appeared to record.
Therefore, Jude Bellingham’s two-match suspension has been upheld by the Competition Committee, despite Real Madrid’s efforts to appeal the decision. Their appeal included testimony from a lip-reader and a Spanish expert in the English language, but the committee found no grounds to overturn the original ruling.

While Bellingham will be eligible to play in the Copa del Rey semi-final against Real Sociedad next week, this suspension, combined with a separate yellow card received on Wednesday, means he will be absent for three of Real Madrid’s next four games.
The yellow card triggers a European suspension, sidelining him for the first leg of their Champions League tie against Atletico Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. He will be available to return for the La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano, the Champions League return leg against Atletico, and the subsequent league game against Villarreal at La Ceramica before the March international break.
