Following a judge ruling on the ongoing works at the Santiago Bernabeu carpark construction which is been managed by Real Madrid’s subsidiary, Real Madrid Estadio, which has Jose Angel Sanchez, the general Manager of Real Madrid, as its sole employee, the underground facility is set to be halted in the latest court decision.
More Details
The finance for the construction of the car park was set to be taken care of by the council with Real Madrid Estadio slated to take on a 40-year lease, which was projected to yield €561 million in profit over that duration. They were the only bidder for the project.

However, a residents’ union in the area has been actively opposing the project, expressing concerns that construction will disrupt their neighborhood and limit access on several major roads, resulting in increased traffic.
Although the car park would provide around 500 parking spaces for local residents, they contend that this is about the same number of spaces that will be eliminated above ground.

They have been embroiled in a legal dispute with the union and also with the Council regarding the project, asserting that it primarily benefits private interests and that the correct planning permissions were not obtained.
Real Madrid Estadio had agreed to bear the costs of any delays to ensure construction could move forward amidst the ongoing legal proceedings.
Recently, a judge ruled that construction of the tunnels for the proposed car park must be halted, as reported by Sport. The decision was made on the grounds that proceeding with the work could render it difficult or impossible to reverse.
