At 23 years old, Weah already has a track record of playing for elite European clubs having joined Paris Saint-Germain’s academy in 2014 and made five appearances for their first team before joining Scottish giants Celtic on a six-month loan in 2019.

Weah then signed for Lille on a five-year contract and was part of the time that caused an upset in France to leapfrog PSG to the league title back in 2021 although he struggled through a scoreless season in 2022/23, with a total of six goals from 89 league appearances.

It certainly seems like Weah is embracing a new opportunity in Turin, as he all but confirmed his imminent move Monday on Instagram.

The American has been used in a variety of positions at Lille this season, who finished fifth in Ligue 1 to qualify for the Europa Conference League, including a solid stint in both full-back roles despite playing as a striker during the World Cup for his national team, scoring in the 1-1 draw with Wales.

Weah will have to contend without Champions League football once he completes his Serie A switch due to the club been ducked 10 points by Italian authorities after the Serie A side was found guilty for capital gains violations although he may not be missing it for long.

Meanwhile…

L’Équipe report that Premier League side Nottingham Forest are making a play to sign RC Strasbourg Ghanaian international defender Alexander Djiku, who is going to be a free agent at the end of the month.

Djiku, 28, who joined Strasbourg in 2019 and has more recently been club captain, has received a formal contract offer from Nottingham Forest, whose transfer window is currently being run by Chief Football Officer Ross Wilson although Steve Cooper’s side are not the only club interested in his services.

However, Strasbourg are attempting to convince Djiku to sign a contract extension and now able to offer a significantly improved financial package following the acquisition of the club last week by BlueCo, the holding company that Clearlake Capital is using to build a multi-club project to support Premier League side Chelsea.

Liverpool are set to challenge Real Madrid for the signing of PSG forward Kylian Mbappe, according to FIFA agent Marco Kirdemir with the future of France national team captain in doubts after he informed PSG by letter that he does not plan to extend his contract beyond next summer.

He has insisted he would be happy to see out the final year of his contract at the club, but the French champions have no intention of allowing him to leave for free next June and would prefer to sell him this summer with Real Madrid his preferred destination believed to be leading the chase for his services.

But Kirdemer believes the Spanish giants will face stiff competition for Mbappe from Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool as culled from Dailymail UK Sports.

“Liverpool is in competition with Real Madrid and wants to pay a fortune for Mbappe,” Kirdemir told Marca.

Despite Mbappe being set to enter the final year of his deal, Kirdemir still expects PSG to command a huge transfer fee in order to let him move on with a figure in the region of €300m (£258m) a possibility, which would make Mbappe the most expensive player in history.

That record is currently held by Mbappe’s PSG team-mate Neymar, who cost the French club £198m in 2017 and signing Mbappe for that5 hefty price tag would smash Liverpool’s transfer record, which stands at the £85m they paid for Darwin Nunez last summer.
